FutureB-
Emmanwori should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B+. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Cowboys were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
However the rest shakes out, Emmanwori at that price is a win they earned. Reaching for Prather left real value on the table behind him. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the 17th pick they get a wrecking ball inside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at pick No. 45 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick49
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at the 49th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick76
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
By-the-book stuff, Ozzy Trapilo at No. 76 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick151
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 13, where Tyler Shough graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick166
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on RJ Harvey. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick171
Rnd5
Damien Martinez
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Damien Martinez at the Round 5 slot is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Nelson at pick No. 174, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick204
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
Tyler Cooper in slot 204 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jay Higgins at pick 211. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick236
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in the 236th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick239
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Nothing to complain about; Isaac TeSlaa went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick241
Rnd7
CJ Dippre
CJ Dippre in No. 241 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick247
Rnd7
Kaden Prather
A real head-scratcher, Kaden Prather in pick 247 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
