The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Nick Emmanwori, the No. 20 name on the board, in pick No. 51.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Every board in the league had Jones Jr. lower, and that gap is the story. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
