Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
D
ValueB

FutureB-
The Cowboys won the night they stopped Warren from sliding. Grade: D. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
If Williams pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Warren.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In the 20th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker slipping to the 39th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick51
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tate Ratledge this early at pick 51. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick52
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Omarion Hampton in No. 52, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick149
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
A big swing on Kyle Williams at pick No. 149, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick171
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson at pick No. 174 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick204
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
They took Jay Higgins at par in the 204th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick208
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
No edge and no loss on Nazir Stackhouse in pick 208; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick211
Rnd6
Isaac TeSlaa
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Isaac TeSlaa well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick239
Rnd7
Ty Hamilton
They went early on Ty Hamilton in slot 239, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
