Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys won the night they stopped Tuten from sliding. Grade: B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Bhayshul Tuten had no business being available in pick 174, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Conner has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Shemar Stewart
In No. 12 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. More want than need.
Pick44 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton slid further than he should have, and slot 44 is lovely value for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
Pick76 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel at Round 3, Pick 12 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick149 Rnd5 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at pick No. 149 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick171 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kyle Williams. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick174 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten in the 174th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick204 Rnd6 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
They did well to land Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in pick 204, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick211 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
Fair-plus on Luke Lachey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick239 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
A conviction pick on Zeek Biggers at slot 239 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick247 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at No. 247 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
