FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Moss: B+. Thirty-one other rooms let Miller Moss slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at the Round 5 slot. Highway robbery. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will need Slackman to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Harold Perkins Jr.
In pick 25 they get a three-down second-level presence at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Circle this one: Xavier Watts at slot 47 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick62
Rnd2
Josaiah Stewart
They read the board right and Josaiah Stewart was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 30. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick78
Rnd3
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick90
Rnd3
Riley Mahlman
A reach for Riley Mahlman in the 90th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jabbar Muhammad
Nice patience on Jabbar Muhammad, who had no business lasting to the 117th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick131
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
They paid sticker price for Jaeden Roberts in pick No. 131, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick153
Rnd5
Donovan Edwards
A clean, defensible pick in No. 153 with a little surplus value in Donovan Edwards. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick169
Rnd5
Miller Moss
Miller Moss at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170
Rnd5
Tez Johnson
You do not let a wide receiver like Tez Johnson reach pick No. 170 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick171
Rnd5
Ricky White III
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ricky White III at the 171st pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick173
Rnd5
Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm at slot 173 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick189
Rnd6
Nick Martin
Nick Martin at pick 189 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick208
Rnd6
Joey Slackman
A real head-scratcher, Joey Slackman in the 208th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
