Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureB-
The Cowboys bet the future on Manning. The board says D-. The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in Tim Keenan III, taking him 59 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Arch Manning gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Kadyn Proctor
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick13
Rnd1
Peter Woods
In the 13th overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. More want than need.
Pick22
Rnd1
Arch Manning
In slot 22 they get a passer to set the clock by, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Whit Weeks
A wild overpay on Whit Weeks in the Round 2 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick44
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
A straight-up fair deal on Sonny Styles at pick No. 44, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick82
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
They went early on Harold Perkins Jr. in pick 82, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick83
Rnd3
Tim Keenan III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tim Keenan III well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick101
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford in slot 101 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick140
Rnd5
Nic Anderson
Nic Anderson in pick No. 140 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick232
Rnd7
Haynes King
Haynes King at Round 7, Pick 14 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
