Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueA NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Cowboys and Barron: B.

The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jahdae Barron fell into No. 174. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

The back end got a real overhaul.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In slot 12 they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Ashton Jeanty
The board fumbled Ashton Jeanty all the way to the 44th pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick76 Rnd3 Armand Membou
Armand Membou in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149 Rnd5 Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at Round 5, Pick 11 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jahdae Barron
Taking Jahdae Barron in the 174th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
