Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
The Cowboys robbed the room for Torrence. Final grade: B. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Ro Torrence, pick No. 216, roughly 37 picks past where he belonged. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Eboigbe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Graham Barton
Graham Barton at pick 32 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick56
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
No drama and no debate, Braden Fiske went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 24. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick87
Rnd3
Trey Benson
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in slot 87, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick95
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at No. 95 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick128
Rnd4
Christian Jones
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at pick No. 128 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick132
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
A reach on Tommy Eichenberg in the 132nd overall pick; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in the 134th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick174
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
They went early on Tanor Bortolini in the Round 5 slot, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick216
Rnd6
Ro Torrence
Ro Torrence at Round 6, Pick 41 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick233
Rnd7
JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand at the 233rd pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick244
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
A straight-up fair deal on Josh Proctor at slot 244, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
