Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureC-
The Cowboys worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

The Cowboys torched the value chart for James Williams Sr., taking him 59 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. However the rest shakes out, Coleman Jr. at that price is a win they earned. Quinnen Williams gives the group a proven body among the projects.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get an every-down engine for the run game, outstanding value to boot.
Pick50 Rnd2 CJ Allen
CJ Allen at pick 50 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick53 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
They took Elijah Sarratt at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick70 Rnd3 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in the 70th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick94 Rnd3 Colton Hood
Colton Hood at pick No. 94 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick103 Rnd4 Brian Parker II
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Brian Parker II in the 103rd pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick114 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
A reasonable price with a little left over, D'Angelo Ponds in slot 114. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick125 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
They did well to land Chase Bisontis in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick127 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
By-the-book stuff, Michael Trigg at Round 4, Pick 27 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick130 Rnd4 Bray Hubbard
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bray Hubbard. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jadarian Price
A straight-up fair deal on Jadarian Price at the 133rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick159 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves in the 159th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick176 Rnd5 Bud Clark
They reached a country mile for Bud Clark at No. 176, and the board is aghast. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick189 Rnd6 Kevin Coleman Jr.
Somehow Kevin Coleman Jr. was still sitting there in pick 189, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick192 Rnd6 Bryce Boettcher
Circle this one: Bryce Boettcher at pick 192 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick205 Rnd6 Bear Alexander
They left a pile of value on the table to take Bear Alexander this early at Round 6, Pick 26. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick227 Rnd7 James Williams Sr.
They talked themselves into James Williams Sr. at slot 227, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick231 Rnd7 Diego Pavia
A premium they did not need to pay, Diego Pavia a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick245 Rnd7 Haynes King
A real head-scratcher, Haynes King in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
