Higgins should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jayden Higgins tumbling to the Cowboys in pick 76 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Reaching for Jackson left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 12 they get a bell-cow for the offense at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Trey Amos at pick 44 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick76 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at slot 76 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick149 Rnd5 Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard at the 149th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick171 Rnd5 Connor Colby
Connor Colby in No. 171 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson in the 174th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick204 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
No edge and no loss on Nazir Stackhouse in Round 6, Pick 28; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick211 Rnd6 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick239 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
They liked Cody Lindenberg enough to skip the value, taking him in the 239th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick247 Rnd7 Dante Trader Jr.
A slide stopped in slot 247, with Dante Trader Jr. worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
