Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall C+
ValueC- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Cowboys.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cowboys started one anyway for Arvell Reese, 41 picks ahead of schedule. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

So much rides on Arvell Reese that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In No. 12 they get a green-dot type in the middle, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick29 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In the 29th pick they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sonny Styles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick112 Rnd4 Derrick Moore
Derrick Moore at Round 4, Pick 12 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick153 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
They took Jacob Rodriguez at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick177 Rnd5 CJ Daniels
Quietly one of the better values of the day, CJ Daniels at pick No. 177. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick224 Rnd7 Peyton Bowen
A reach for Peyton Bowen in the Round 7 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick233 Rnd7 Jamal Haynes
They paid up for Jamal Haynes at Round 7, Pick 16 when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
