Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesD FutureA
The Cowboys won the night they stopped Reed from sliding. Grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jaylen Reed tumbling to the Cowboys in No. 211 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 26 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
The board had Omarion Hampton higher than No. 44, and the running back fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick76 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick99 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
No edge and no loss on Zy Alexander in the 99th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at the 149th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick171 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Somehow Bhayshul Tuten was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 33, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick174 Rnd5 Ty Robinson
They let Ty Robinson come to them and pounced at pick No. 174. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick204 Rnd6 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith slid further than he should have, and slot 204 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
A safety of that caliber at the 211th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick239 Rnd7 Jabbar Muhammad
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jabbar Muhammad. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick247 Rnd7 LaJohntay Wester
A straight-up fair deal on LaJohntay Wester at No. 247, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
