The steal of the weekend belongs to the Cowboys and Pavia: D-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Taylen Green at pick No. 101 is 50 spots clear of where he belonged.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
However the rest shakes out, Pavia at that price is a win they earned. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Keldric Faulk
In the 8th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick16
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
In pick 16 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick101
Rnd3
Taylen Green
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Taylen Green well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick132
Rnd4
Ahmaad Moses
They paid sticker price for Ahmaad Moses in slot 132, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick171
Rnd5
Quintrevion Wisner
Fair-plus on Quintrevion Wisner, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick189
Rnd6
Bear Alexander
A real head-scratcher, Bear Alexander in pick 189 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick214
Rnd6
Boubacar Traore
Boubacar Traore in No. 214 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick217
Rnd7
Micah Morris
They left a pile of value on the table to take Micah Morris this early at pick No. 217. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick222
Rnd7
Marquis Johnson
A straight-up fair deal on Marquis Johnson at Round 7, Pick 6, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick245
Rnd7
Diego Pavia
Taking Diego Pavia in slot 245 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
