Larceny in the 174th overall pick lands the Cowboys a B, Shough and all.

When a board-topper like Tyler Shough slides to the Round 5 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. They are betting Cross III proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In the 12th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omarion Hampton at the 44th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
Nice patience on Cameron Williams, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick149 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Value with a capital V on Malachi Moore in pick No. 149, a genuine coup. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick171 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
They did well to land Seth McLaughlin in slot 171, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick174 Rnd5 Tyler Shough
A quarterback of that caliber at pick 174 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 28 with a little surplus value in Jay Higgins. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick211 Rnd6 Howard Cross III
Howard Cross III in No. 211 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick239 Rnd7 Ja'Quinden Jackson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ja'Quinden Jackson at the 239th pick is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick247 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton at No. 247 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
