Milroe is the plan now, and the Cowboys grade out a B-. The Cowboys spent the pick that matters most on Jalen Milroe, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They banked enough surplus on Nesbit to cover a lot of smaller sins.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Jalen Milroe
In slot 30 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Isaiah Bond
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Bond in No. 36, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in Round 2, Pick 30 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Pick68
Rnd3
Bryson Nesbit
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bryson Nesbit at the 68th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94
Rnd3
Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne at pick No. 94 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick100
Rnd4
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse at the 100th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick132
Rnd5
Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at pick 132 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
