Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Cowboys, and a B to prove it. The Cowboys banked a tidy surplus when Zy Alexander lasted to pick 114, a few spots past his grade. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Pegues to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In No. 12 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
They read the board right and Kaleb Johnson was the payoff at the 57th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76
Rnd3
Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner at Round 3, Pick 12 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick114
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at pick No. 114 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick146
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Malachi Moore worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick149
Rnd5
Nick Nash
Nick Nash in pick 149 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at the 171st pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
A conviction pick on JJ Pegues at No. 174 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick204
Rnd6
Tahj Brooks
A tidy little value on Tahj Brooks in pick 204, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick211
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
They did well to land Joshua Gray in slot 211, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad at Round 7, Pick 23 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick247
Rnd7
Cody Lindenberg
They paid up for Cody Lindenberg at the Round 7 slot when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
