Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B

The Cowboys cashed the board's mistake on Braswell: B.

Somebody in slot 56 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Chris Braswell, the No. 32 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Jones to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Job largely done: cornerback settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In pick 24 they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
They barely believed it either: Chris Braswell still on the board at the 56th overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick87 Rnd3 Braden Fiske
A tidy little value on Braden Fiske in the 87th pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick124 Rnd4 James Williams
They paid sticker price for James Williams in No. 124, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick174 Rnd5 Christian Jones
They liked Christian Jones enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 174. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick212 Rnd6 Myles Jones
They let Myles Jones come to them and pounced at slot 212. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick245 Rnd7 Walter Rouse
No edge and no loss on Walter Rouse in Round 7, Pick 25; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
