Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Cowboys won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Cowboys should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots still on the board.

Landing Mims that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The Jones pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Amarius Mims
They let Amarius Mims come to them and pounced at pick 36. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jonathon Brooks
Jonathon Brooks at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick67 Rnd3 Adisa Isaac
A tidy little value on Adisa Isaac in the 67th pick, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick89 Rnd3 Maason Smith
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 89th overall pick on Maason Smith with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick102 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in Round 4, Pick 2 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick124 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
A want over a need in pick No. 124: Justin Eboigbe adds an edge rusher while wide receiver, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick174 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at No. 174 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212 Rnd6 Trevor Keegan
They paid up for Trevor Keegan at slot 212 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick245 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry at the 245th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
