The phones were a trap the Cowboys kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

J.J. McCarthy is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The Barrett pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
