TE Bowling Green
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureA+
Hard to poke a hole in the 49ers' weekend: A-.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the 49ers started one anyway for Jared Wilson, 73 picks ahead of schedule. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In slot 12 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Taking Tyler Booker in pick 57 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in pick No. 74 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Dylan Fairchild in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76 Rnd3 Deone Walker
Good price on Deone Walker in Round 3, Pick 12, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick97 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman at No. 97 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick99 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at pick 99 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick111 Rnd4 JJ Pegues
This one needs a full-page explanation: JJ Pegues in slot 111, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Value said wait; Jared Wilson in the 137th pick says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick152 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
They paid a round early for Willie Lampkin in No. 152, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
