Ice DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

Draft Grade — 49ers

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the 49ers. The war room fell hard for Anthony Lucas, and it showed at pick 58: 39 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
The Lew steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In slot 27 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Anthony Lucas
Anthony Lucas in pick No. 58 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick92
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Connor Lew in No. 92 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
No drama and no debate, Ar'maj Reed-Adams went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick133
Rnd4
Dametrious Crownover
No edge and no loss on Dametrious Crownover in the 133rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick138
Rnd4
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at pick 138 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick171
Rnd5
Sam Roush
They read the board right and Sam Roush was the payoff at the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
