Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall C
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Chiefs to a C.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Chiefs did exactly that with Caden Curry in the 74th overall pick.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The Moore value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Spending an early pick on cornerback with tight end, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

So much rides on Mansoor Delane that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In No. 12 they get an island corner at fair value. More want than need.
Pick40 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
They will replay Sonny Styles at the 40th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick74 Rnd3 Caden Curry
A wild overpay on Caden Curry in pick No. 74, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick109 Rnd4 Treydan Stukes
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Treydan Stukes at cornerback with tight end, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick112 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance at the 112th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick115 Rnd4 Bud Clark
Bud Clark in the Round 4 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick146 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens in pick No. 146 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick176 Rnd5 Louis Moore
Louis Moore at Round 5, Pick 38 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
