Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA+
The Bears won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-. Whoever sat across the table from the Bears should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
Every board in the league had Travis lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
The veteran additions, Jessie Bates III chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick 10 they get a go-to option on the outside. A real need, handled.
Pick30
Rnd1
Graham Barton
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
They took Chop Robinson at par in pick No. 35, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick43
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
They liked Ja'Tavion Sanders enough to skip the value, taking him in the 43rd overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick66
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A conviction pick on Cooper Beebe at slot 66 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick74
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
They went early on Sedrick Van Pran in No. 74, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick75
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at the 75th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick90
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick93
Rnd3
Audric Estime
By-the-book stuff, Audric Estime at slot 93 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick110
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
They reached into another round for Jordan Travis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at the 122nd pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick146
Rnd5
Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. in Round 5, Pick 10 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
