Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesD- FutureA+
The Saints found their guy under center in Dart: B-.

The search is over. The Saints handed the keys to Jaxson Dart, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Reaching for McLeod left real value on the table behind him. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Getting TeSlaa where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jaxson Dart
In pick No. 20 they get a passer to set the clock by, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick40 Rnd2 Grey Zabel
Nothing to complain about; Grey Zabel went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick71 Rnd3 Jack Bech
Good price on Jack Bech in the 71st pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick93 Rnd3 Deone Walker
Deone Walker slipping to pick 93 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick112 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson at Round 4, Pick 10 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick131 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick184 Rnd6 Jalen McLeod
They talked themselves into Jalen McLeod at slot 184, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick248 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Isaac TeSlaa at No. 248 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick254 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner in the Round 7 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
