Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB
The Texans did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The Texans treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 98th overall pick on McKinnley Jackson a full 25 spots early.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In No. 26 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick47 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson slid further than he should have, and the 47th pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick83 Rnd3 Cade Stover
They paid sticker price for Cade Stover in pick No. 83, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick98 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson in the 98th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick114 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster in slot 114 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick165 Rnd5 Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon at Round 5, Pick 29 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick215 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
A reach for Frank Gore Jr. in No. 215; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick224 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett at the 224th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick238 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
Tyler Owens is a better player than Round 7, Pick 18 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
