Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Commanders, and a B to prove it.

Everything else got attention, and cornerback got none. That is a strange way for the Commanders to leave a draft. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The Belton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Robinson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
The board had Tyler Warren higher than the Round 1 slot, and the tight end fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick64 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku in No. 64 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick128 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
They read the board right and Anthony Belton was the payoff at Round 4, Pick 26. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick164 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at the 164th pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick165 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They went early on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 165th overall pick, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick168 Rnd5 Que Robinson
A big swing on Que Robinson at pick No. 168, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick205 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
A straight-up fair deal on Joshua Gray at slot 205, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick245 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan in pick 245 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
