Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Commanders left with their quarterback, and a B- to match.

The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

Rouse at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every board in the league had Okie-Anoma lower, and that gap is the story. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Daniels. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick40 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at Round 2, Pick 8 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick66 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
No edge and no loss on Kamren Kinchens in pick 66; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick67 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
By-the-book stuff, Patrick Paul at the 67th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick71 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker in pick No. 71 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick88 Rnd3 Bucky Irving
Bucky Irving in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick100 Rnd3 Theo Johnson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Theo Johnson in No. 100, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick126 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in the 126th overall pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
A tidy little value on Jarrian Jones in Round 5, Pick 3, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick168 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden at the 168th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick202 Rnd6 Walter Rouse
You do not let an offensive lineman like Walter Rouse reach No. 202 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick222 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
They paid up for Michael Barrett at pick 222 when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick239 Rnd7 Eyabi Okie-Anoma
Eyabi Okie-Anoma in the 239th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
