Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureB
A solid, sensible weekend for the Commanders: B-. The Commanders went off the board in a big way for Evan Tengesdahl, 59 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reid at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Deontae Lawson
In slot 24 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. More want than need.
Pick163
Rnd5
Desmond Reid
They read the board right and Desmond Reid was the payoff at the 163rd pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick190
Rnd6
Brandon Inniss
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brandon Inniss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick202
Rnd6
Smith Snowden
Nothing to complain about; Smith Snowden went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick218
Rnd7
Boubacar Traore
A big swing on Boubacar Traore at No. 218, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick237
Rnd7
Evan Tengesdahl
Evan Tengesdahl at Round 7, Pick 21 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
