You build a draft on nights like this. Ryan Fitzgerald had no business being available in the 236th pick, and the Commanders did the only sane thing and turned in the card. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The Knight Jr. pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, cornerback and other spots still on the board. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The cost of the Dellinger reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
