Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Commanders, and a B- to prove it. The Evan Tengesdahl pick is the one that will follow the Commanders into the fall. They took him 46 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Deontae Lawson
In pick 24 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. More want than need.
Pick88
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
A slide stopped in pick No. 88, with Nicholas Singleton worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa at the 163rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick202
Rnd6
Hykeem Williams
The board had Hykeem Williams higher than Round 6, Pick 26, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick237
Rnd7
Evan Tengesdahl
A big swing on Evan Tengesdahl at the 237th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
