A solid, sensible weekend for the Commanders: B-.

The Dayon Hayes selection is the head-turner. The Commanders reached 89 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Landing Harris that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
In slot 29 they get a building block for the line, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61 Rnd2 Omarr Norman-Lott
A reach on Omarr Norman-Lott in the 61st overall pick; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick79 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Tre Harris in Round 3, Pick 15 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick207 Rnd6 Dayon Hayes
They talked themselves into Dayon Hayes at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
They will replay Jermari Harris at pick 238 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick250 Rnd7 Hunter Wohler
Good price on Hunter Wohler in pick No. 250, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
