The Commanders found their guy under center in McCarthy: B.

The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on J.J. McCarthy, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Tracy Jr.. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

Spending an early pick on OLB-EDGE with interior defensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The Gray pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
