Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B+
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureA+
The Commanders robbed the room for Wilson. Final grade: B+. You could see the war room lean forward. Roman Wilson at the 100th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Logue proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Graham Barton
Good price on Graham Barton in the 36th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick37
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens in slot 37 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick40
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chop Robinson. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick47
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice in pick No. 47 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
They liked Cooper Beebe enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 67. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
The board fumbled Roman Wilson all the way to the 100th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in No. 102; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick141
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the 141st pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick142
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
The board had Kamal Hadden higher than Round 5, Pick 6, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick181
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Curtis Jacobs. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick223
Rnd7
Zion Logue
They reached into another round for Zion Logue, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
