More right than wrong for the Commanders, and a B- to prove it.

The needs board said one thing and the Commanders did another, using the Round 4 slot on Dasan McCullough while cornerback, edge rusher and other spots waited.

A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Bowman Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

In No. 4 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Barrett Carter
No drama and no debate, Barrett Carter went about where he belonged in pick 36. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick68 Rnd3 Luke Lachey
The board had Luke Lachey higher than pick No. 68, and the tight end fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick100 Rnd4 Dasan McCullough
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Dasan McCullough in the 100th overall pick leaves cornerback, edge rusher and other spots for later.
Pick132 Rnd5 Brennan Presley
A tidy little value on Brennan Presley in No. 132, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick164 Rnd6 Jaeden Roberts
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaeden Roberts at the Round 6 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick174 Rnd6 Billy Bowman Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Billy Bowman Jr. in Round 6, Pick 14. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
