Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
Johnson should have been long gone. The Commanders pounced, and earned a A-.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Commanders were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.

The Johnson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Kearney to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick38 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Value with a capital V on Christen Miller in pick 38, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick48 Rnd2 KC Concepcion
KC Concepcion slid further than he should have, and pick No. 48 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
They let Sonny Styles come to them and pounced at No. 55. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick73 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe at Round 3, Pick 9 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick147 Rnd5 Chris Johnson
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Chris Johnson in the 147th pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jacob Rodriguez
A linebacker of that caliber at the 186th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick190 Rnd6 Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp in the 190th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick219 Rnd7 Quintrevion Wisner
Quintrevion Wisner at pick 219 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick224 Rnd7 Roderick Kearney
Roderick Kearney at the Round 7 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick238 Rnd7 Miller Moss
They robbed the room for Miller Moss here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
