Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Commanders kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Commanders left edge rusher untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Dixon pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In No. 7 they get a ballhawk on the back end at fair value. More want than need.
Pick71
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
A quiet steal in pick No. 71: Eli Stowers for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick146
Rnd5
Kage Casey
Nothing to complain about; Kage Casey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick186
Rnd6
Rayshaun Benny
They did well to land Rayshaun Benny in Round 6, Pick 6, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick197
Rnd6
Thaddeus Dixon
The board had Thaddeus Dixon higher than the Round 6 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick223
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at pick 223 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
