Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA
Daniels is the Commanders' new face under center. Grade: A-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Vidal reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wilson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In slot 5 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Guyton at No. 36 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick37 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kingsley Suamataia this early at Round 2, Pick 5. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick40 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders at pick No. 40 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Value with a capital V on Payton Wilson in pick 67, a genuine coup. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick78 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Good price on Mike Sainristil in the 78th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jalen McMillan
By-the-book stuff, Jalen McMillan at the 100th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
They read the board right and Ben Sinnott was the payoff at the Round 5 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick152 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
Nice patience on Nehemiah Pritchett, who had no business lasting to pick No. 152. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick222 Rnd7 Kimani Vidal
They talked themselves into Kimani Vidal at pick 222, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
