Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesC FutureB-
The Commanders did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Nobody else had Jalen Travis anywhere near pick 245. The Commanders did, by 42 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They banked enough surplus on Emmanwori to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in the 37th pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick61 Rnd2 Savion Williams
Savion Williams in the Round 2 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick128 Rnd4 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
They talked themselves into Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the 128th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick205 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 29 with a little surplus value in Jason Marshall Jr.. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick213 Rnd6 Isaac TeSlaa
Value said wait; Isaac TeSlaa in pick 213 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jalen Travis
They reached into another round for Jalen Travis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
