If confidence were a draft strategy, the Colts would have aced it. Graham Mertz at No. 232 is 84 spots clear of where he belonged. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
