KG1990 DRAFTING FOR THEColts

Draft Grade — Colts

Grand theft in pick 152: the Colts steal Paul Jr. and grade out a B-. Somebody in the 152nd overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Colts sat still while Chris Paul Jr., the No. 88 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In the 14th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. More want than need.
Pick45
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malaki Starks in pick No. 45, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick80
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
A tight end of that caliber at No. 80 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick116
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
They barely believed it either: TreVeyon Henderson still on the board at the 116th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick152
Rnd5
Chris Paul Jr.
They robbed the room for Chris Paul Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Pick191
Rnd6
Cobee Bryant
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 13 with a little surplus value in Cobee Bryant. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick234
Rnd7
Seth McLaughlin
Value with a capital V on Seth McLaughlin in slot 234, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
