Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-

The Chiefs checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The Malachi Lawrence selection is the head-turner. The Chiefs reached 28 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Sadiq pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Tight end was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Peter Woods
In No. 9 they get a double-digit-sack hope, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at the 40th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick74 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
A premium they did not need to pay, Nicholas Singleton a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick109 Rnd4 Malachi Lawrence
A wild overpay on Malachi Lawrence in pick No. 109, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick146 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves in Round 5, Pick 8 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick176 Rnd5 Oscar Delp
A tidy little value on Oscar Delp in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
