Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Colts: B-.

The Colts did not so much draft Donovan Jennings as overpay for him, 41 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The Jackson pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots still on the board. Williams at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They left with tight end solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In pick 15 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick46 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
Nothing to complain about; T.J. Tampa went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick82 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
By-the-book stuff, Christian Mahogany at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick117 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
They bypassed pressing needs at wide receiver, quarterback and other spots to take Khyree Jackson, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick153 Rnd5 James Williams
James Williams slid further than he should have, and the 153rd pick is lovely value for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick193 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jared Wiley in pick No. 193, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick235 Rnd7 Donovan Jennings
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Donovan Jennings well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
