Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Colts, and a B- to prove it.

You could see the war room lean forward. Andrew Mukuba at pick 116 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The cost of the Higgins reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.

The Colts indulged a want in Mukuba while a need in wide receiver, quarterback and other spots stayed open. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Malaki Starks
In the 14th pick they get an enforcer at safety, though they paid up to get him. More want than need.
Pick45 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Somehow Colston Loveland was still sitting there in slot 45, and they pounced on premier tight end value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick80 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 80th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick116 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick No. 116 on Andrew Mukuba with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in slot 152 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick198 Rnd6 Jermari Harris
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jermari Harris this early at pick 198. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick234 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
You do not let an offensive lineman like Carson Vinson reach the 234th pick and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
