The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Colts watched Jyaire Hill slide 41 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

In No. 31 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. A real need, handled.

Ja'Kobi Lane is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
