Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB
The Colts turned the phones into found money: B+.

The war room fell hard for Carson Steele, and it showed at the Round 7 slot: 50 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

Adding Haason Reddick by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
They liked Edgerrin Cooper enough to skip the value, taking him in the 46th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at No. 76 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick82 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Nothing to complain about; Christian Mahogany went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick118 Rnd4 Max Melton
Max Melton in slot 118 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick150 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at pick No. 150 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick193 Rnd6 Brevyn Spann-Ford
Brevyn Spann-Ford in Round 6, Pick 18 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick232 Rnd7 Carson Steele
Carson Steele at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
