FutureC+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Colts a B. Nobody else had Layden Robinson anywhere near pick 151. The Colts did, by 24 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Turner.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In No. 24 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick25
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at the 25th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82
Rnd3
Kris Abrams-Draine
A straight-up fair deal on Kris Abrams-Draine at pick 82, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick87
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick117
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher at slot 117 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick151
Rnd5
Layden Robinson
They talked themselves into Layden Robinson at the 151st overall pick, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Pick174
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick191
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 191st pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick234
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
A wild overpay on Sam Hartman in Round 7, Pick 14, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
