Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Colts fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

The Colts torched the value chart for Sam Hartman, taking him 67 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Baker pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Adding Fletcher Cox by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 22nd pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
A tidy little value on Darius Robinson in Round 2, Pick 14, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick50 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa at slot 50 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick82 Rnd3 Cade Stover
Cade Stover at pick 82 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick117 Rnd4 Javon Baker
Steal is underselling it; Javon Baker at the 117th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick120 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
A premium they did not need to pay, Isaac Guerendo a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick151 Rnd5 Javion Cohen
They reached a country mile for Javion Cohen at slot 151, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick172 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in pick No. 172 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick191 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman at No. 191 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick234 Rnd7 Dominique Hampton
Dominique Hampton in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
