The steal of the weekend belongs to the Colts and Stutsman: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Danny Stutsman at No. 188 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Every board in the league had Strong lower, and that gap is the story. The Castro pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots still on the board. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
In the 24th overall pick they get a two-high chess piece. Need was not the driver here.
Pick46
Rnd2
Smael Mondon Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 14 with a little surplus value in Smael Mondon Jr.. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick77
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in the 77th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick113
Rnd4
Sebastian Castro
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Sebastian Castro while clear needs at wide receiver, quarterback and other spots sat open.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jabbar Muhammad
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jabbar Muhammad at No. 125. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick188
Rnd6
Danny Stutsman
Steal is underselling it; Danny Stutsman at pick 188 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick189
Rnd6
Donovan Jackson
They let Donovan Jackson come to them and pounced at pick No. 189. It fills a real need, too.
Pick227
Rnd7
Dorian Strong
They talked themselves into Dorian Strong at slot 227, and the board did not agree. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
