FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Colts: B-. It is a puzzling start. The Colts had quarterback, tight end and other spots to solve and reached instead for Cam Hart, a cornerback, at No. 117. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Rosemy-Jacksaint where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Booker has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. More want than need.
Pick59
Rnd2
Austin Booker
The board had cheaper options than Austin Booker at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
Pick82
Rnd3
Javon Baker
Nothing to complain about; Javon Baker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cole Bishop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick117
Rnd4
Cam Hart
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 117th pick on Cam Hart with quarterback, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick123
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at slot 123 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick151
Rnd5
Isaiah Davis
Isaiah Davis in pick 151 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick191
Rnd6
Javion Cohen
Javion Cohen in Round 6, Pick 16 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick234
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
Tylan Grable slipping to No. 234 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick247
Rnd7
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at pick No. 247. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
