Draft Grade — Colts

The Colts won the night they stopped Arroyo from sliding. Grade: B-. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Elijah Arroyo, pick 232, roughly 54 picks past where he belonged.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Thomas reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The back end got a real overhaul.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
In the 14th overall pick they get a rangy last line of defense. More want than need.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Fair-plus on Jihaad Campbell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick80
Rnd3
Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas in pick No. 80 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick115
Rnd4
Barrett Carter
They robbed the room for Barrett Carter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick150
Rnd5
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in slot 150 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick187
Rnd6
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick232
Rnd7
Elijah Arroyo
You do not let a tight end like Elijah Arroyo reach pick 232 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
